"A home for dreamers"
An Arduino-powered two-wheel differential drive rover equipped with an ultrasonic sensor and servo pan mechanism.
Students needed a reliable reference build to understand how sensory input directly governs motorized physical actions in robotics.
Mount an HC-SR04 ultrasonic distance sensor onto a small SG90 servo motor, allowing the rover to scan 180 degrees left and right before deciding on the optimal clear path.
Assembled on an acrylic 2WD chassis with two yellow TT gear motors, an L298N dual H-bridge motor driver, Arduino Uno R3, and a 2x 18650 Li-ion battery pack with an LM2596 buck converter.
Tested across classroom floors with cardboard boxes, chairs, and uneven surfaces. Adjusted scan delays and turn duration to prevent wall collisions.
Achieved 95% collision-free navigation at speeds up to 25 cm/s, serving as our primary teaching platform for new club members.
Integrating infrared cliff sensors to prevent drops from tables and replacing L298N with higher-efficiency MOSFET drivers.
